| HANOI, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam might be chosen as the host of Miss Universe 2008, since the pageant's organizing committee is surveying the country and three other candidates -- Spain, Japan and the United Arab Emirates, local newspaper Vietnam Agriculture reported Monday. To be selected, Vietnam should have support of people, many landscapes, good infrastructure, especially luxury hotels, and spend some 15 million U.S. dollars on the event, said the committee's head, Paula Mary Shugart, who visited several Vietnamese cities. Of the money, over 7 million dollars will be paid as the pageant's royalty, and the remainder spent on covering manpower and infrastructure expenses, she said. In late May in Mexico, Miss Japan, Riyo Mori, was chosen as Miss Universe 2007. |
